Alex Collins Faces A Tough Steelers Run Defense
6 years agoBaltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins will look to build off his best performance of the season this week versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Collins rolled up 68 yards on 18 carries, both season-highs, along with a touchdown against the Broncos in Week 3. He is averaging just 11 carries a game and 3.4 yards per attempt this season. One of the most significant issues for Collins, besides his lack of work, is that he has yet to break off any big runs. On the positive front, the third-year back is on pace to set career-bests in touchdowns as well as receptions and receiving yards. Collins had a couple of good games against the Steelers last year. He produced at least 82 yards on the ground in each of those pair of games, averaging 101.5 yards on 13.5 carries a game versus the Steelers in 2017. Pittsburgh has given up a lot of yards on the ground this year; however, the Steelers have done an excellent job holding opposing tailbacks at bay. Cleveland's trio of backs are the only running backs to combine for 100 rushing yards against the Steelers through the first three contests. With Collins success heavily dependent on touchdowns -- the Steelers have given up two on the ground -- and the fact that Javorius Allen gets the bulk of the work in the red-zone and passing game out of the backfield, he is at best a low-end flex option in Week 4.
