3 years agoThe Colorado Rockies agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal with free-agent relief pitcher Alex Colome on Saturday night, according to a source. The Rockies added Colome, shortstop Jose Iglesias and outfielder Scott Schebler on a busy Saturday. Colome doesn't have typical closer stuff, but the 33-year-old veteran has 155 career saves over nine major league seasons, and he should immediately be penciled in as the Rockies ninth-inning man for the 2022 season. In 67 relief outings for the Minnesota Twins last year, he had a 4.15 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 58 strikeouts, 23 walks and 17 saves in 65 innings pitched. Carlos Estevez and Daniel Bard will be his primary competitors for saves in Colorado. Colome will have minimal fantasy value as the expected closer, and Coors Field isn't the most attractive destination for a pitcher of Colome's pedigree.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
