6 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays have traded closer Alex Colome and outfielder Denard Span to the Mariners in exchange for Andrew Moore and Tommy Romero. This leaves Jose Alvarado as the biggest beneficiary in the Rays bullpen. We expect him to see the most save chances the rest of the season, although Chaz Roe could mix in as well. Colome now figures to find himself in a setup role behind Edwin Diaz, which makes him droppable in non-holds leagues. This year, Span has had one of the best starts to a season in his career, and with Dee Gordon and Robinson Cano out of Seattle's lineup he should see significant playing time. Moore started nine games for the Mariners last season and could find himself in the Rays rotation while Jacob Faria is sidelined. The Rays had been tabbed as sellers at the start of the season due to the current construct of their roster. After dealing Evan Longoria to the Giants in the offseason and going into this year with only four starting pitchers, it was clear that they were headed towards a rebuild. It should not come as a shock if someone like Chris Archer gets dealt next.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
