Alex Smith Throws Three Interceptions In Relief
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith was 24-for-32 passing for 325 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions in a loss to the Giants on Sunday. Smith came on in relief of Kyle Allen (ankle) who left with an injury after a roughing the passer call. Smith connected with star receiver Terry McLaurin for a 68-yard touchdown but could get little else going as he checked down to running back J.D. McKissic 14 times. Smith made a couple of poor throws under pressure late in the game resulting in two interceptions to cost Washington a chance to tie the game. Despite the picks, head coach Ron Rivera said Smith will start next week with Dwayne Haskins serving as backup. Smith will be a low-end starter in two-QB formats versus Detroit.
