5 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo (back) appears to be on track for the beginning of the season as a result of the delay to the 2020 MLB campaign. "Unfortunately with the shutdown of the camp at JetBlue, he [Verdugo] hasn’t been able to continually progress as fast as we’d like him to. He is swinging and doing all the things he needs to do. Unfortunately with the shutdown, we’re having to basically go see him and then it makes it more difficult for him to workout," said Red Sox interim manager Ron Roenicke. Verdugo was expected to be sidelined for at least the first month of the season for the originally planned start to the season in late March, but due to COVID-19 and the shutdown of all baseball activities, the 23-year-old will be on track to join the Red Sox lineup whenever the return to action takes place.--Denis Vondrus - RotoBaller
