7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter Alex Wood took the loss on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks thanks to his old nemesis from the second half of last year -- a drop in velocity. In six innings of work, he gave up three earned runs on six hits. He did strike out five and walk none, however. His sinker was averaging 89 mph, making this the second outing where his velocity fell almost three mph from this time last year. If he's forced to rely on location and deception, he goes back to being the same pitcher prior to his 2017 breakout. He's a competitive guy, so an overcorrection may be a part of his game plan. If that happens, the likelihood of another injury for him increases. Owners might be wise to sell him now, especially to any Dodgers fans in their respective leagues.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
