Alexander Mattison To Be Featured Versus Detroit
3 years agoMinnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison will get a "heavy workload" on Sunday against Detroit, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 23-year-old is widely considered one of the best backups throughout the league, and he will have some large shoes to fill with Dalvin Cook (shoulder) expected to miss a few weeks because of a torn labrum. Mattison has 82 touches for 346 yards and five total touchdowns through four career starts, so he should be more than fine to fill the void versus one of the worst teams in the league. Nonetheless, and it goes without saying, fantasy managers should consider him a must-start in all fantasy formats. He will also see plenty of interest throughout the DFS community in Week 13. However, there is a good reason for that.

Vikings Listening To Offers On Alexander Mattison
3 years agoWhile the Minnesota Vikings aren't actively shopping backup running back Alexander Mattison, league sources are saying that the Vikings are listening to offers for him with the regular season approaching. Mattison is one of the best handcuff options in fantasy football if you've already selected Vikings starter Dalvin Cook, but the 24-year-old could become even more attractive to fantasy managers if he's traded to a team that gives him a more substantial role in their backfield. If Mattison is traded, Kene Nwangwu and rookie Ty Chandler would see expanded roles if anything were to happen to Cook during the course of the season. Mattison had 134 carries for a career-high 491 yards and three rushing touchdowns in 16 games (four starts) for Minnesota in 2021.

Alexander Mattison Suffers Finger Injury
3 years agoMinnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison (finger) has been an overqualified backup, consistently producing big games when called upon. Mattison has become an annual must-draft player as an insurance back with elite upside when Dalvin Cook misses time due to injury. Mattison reportedly left practice Tuesday with a finger injury, remaining on the sidelines after that. While little is known about the extent of the injury, it will be important to monitor. Hopefully, Mattison returns to the field soon and resumes his role as an immensely talented backup with massive upside.

Alexander Mattison Runs For 41 Yards And A Score Against Rams
3 years agoMinnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison got the starting nod once again with Dalvin Cook on the reserve/COVID-19 list in Week 16. While the rushing production wasn't there with only 41 yards on 13 carries, Mattison did find his way into the end zone. Adding three catches for 29 yards receiving, Mattison provided decent numbers for his fantasy managers. With Cook's status for Week 17 still up in the air, Mattison could be asked to carry the load again in the division matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Vikings Activate Alexander Mattison From COVID-19 List
3 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings activated running back Alexander Mattison from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday. Mattison is unvaccinated and was required to quarantine for 10 days, but he's now eligible to return for the Week 16 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The 23-year-old is one of the best fantasy football handcuffs behind Dalvin Cook. But he should remain on your benches this weekend with Cook healthy as the team's workhorse running back.
