Aledmys Diaz Hits Homer, Leaves Game
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays shortstop Aledmys Diaz has gotten off to a solid start with his new club, but unfortunately had to leave a 14-5 victory early on Tuesday due to back spasms. Diaz was 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI (plus a fielding error) prior to leaving the game against the Chicago White Sox. Hopefully it’s simply the aforementioned back spasms and nothing more, as Diaz has been filling in nicely for injured shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Across 16 at bats, Diaz is slashing .313/.313/.813 (1.125 OPS) to go along with two home runs, two doubles, four runs scored, and four RBI. Gift Ngoepe is the most likely candidate to man the fort if Diaz is forced to miss time, with Yangervis Solarte filling in as well.
