6 years agoDetroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah faces a tough offseason after seeing himself demoted to third-string running back toward the end of 2017. He started the year as the clear-cut No. 1 back but eventually lost playing time to Theo Riddick and undrafted rookie Tion Green. It seems likely that the Lions will pursue upgrades to the running game this offseason, leaving Abdullah's future with the team uncertain. He is under team control for one more year, but do not be surprised if he is traded this offseason. Perhaps a fresh start will be good for the third-year man.--patton
