4 years agoCincinnati Reds relievers Amir Garrett (forearm) and Lucas Sims (elbow) are among those competing for the club's closer gig during spring camp. Both have been eased into the 2021 year, with neither having yet taken the mound for Cactus League action due to respective injuries. On Wednesday, they worked live batting practice sessions, furthering their return to the hill. Garrett has laid claim to the closer's gig in the wake of Raisel Iglesias' departure, having reeled off 12.8 K/9 and a 0.93 WHIP last year. Sims was similarly dominant, amassing 11.9 K/9 and a 0.94 WHIP in his own right. No official decision has been made as it pertains to who will earn the ninth for Cincinnati come April 1, so fantasy managers will want to check back over the coming weeks to see whom to target for save opportunities.--Jesse Borek
