Amir Garrett To Remain In Bullpen For Now
7 years agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Amir Garrett has acclimated himself well to the bullpen in 2018, pitching 8 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for his team while striking out 10. Garrett's success as a reliever, paired with the Reds' starting rotation's struggles, have led some to question whether Garrett will be moved into a starter's role. Manager Bryan Price responded by saying, “It's always a possibility. We’re just as needy in the bullpen as we are in the rotation. I think his ability to come with that natural aggressiveness without having to temper it plays well to his skill set.” Price also stated, “I like him where he’s at. He’s already a confident kid. But he’s building a lot of confidence in his stuff and his ability.” These quotes lead one to believe that the team plans to leave Garrett as a reliever for the time being. Garrett would be on a pitch count if he were to be moved to a starting role, at least until he had sufficient time to get his arm stretched out.
