Anders Lee Receives Lucrative Extension From Islanders
5 years agoThe New York Islanders loosened the purse strings and rewarded forward Anders Lee with a seven-year contract extension with an average annual value of $7 million per season on Monday. The Isles get in just under the wire, avoiding Lee getting a chance to hit the open market. Lee will turn 29 years old on Wednesday, so this is a nice early birthday present. He scored 28 goals and 51 points across 82 games, perhaps distracted by ongoing negotiations. He had 40 goals during the 2017-18, but he also worked frequently with the departed John Tavares then, too. Regardless, he has averaged 55 points over his past three campaigns and is a fantasy stud who is still on the rise.
