4 years agoThe Carolina Hurricanes took a stranglehold in the second game of the best-of-five series against the New York Rangers on Monday afternoon. Young power forward Andrei Svechnikov scored three goals for the first playoff hat trick in Carolina's history. Sebastian Aho chipped in helpers on all three of Svechnikov's goals. Jordan Martinook scored the other goal for the Hurricanes and Sami Vatanen had two helpers from the blue line. The defenseman was a trade deadline acquisition who didn't play for Carolina during the regular season due to injury. Goalie Petr Mrazek allowed just one goal on 24 shots. At the other end of the ice, Henrik Lundqvist was perhaps the Rangers' best player. He stopped 30 of 34 shots, including a number of very dangerous opportunities. Artemi Panarin scored the lone goal for New York. --Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
