Andrelton Simmons Expects To Throw Soon
3 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Andrelton Simmons (shoulder), who is dealing with right shoulder soreness, is expected to throw in the next day or two. Simmons was scratched from the Cactus League lineup on Saturday, but his injury doesn't appear to be serious enough to endanger his status for Opening Day in early April. The 32-year-old could be splitting time at the 6 with Nico Hoerner this year in his first year in Chicago. Simmons is a defense-first player, giving him very little fantasy appeal in deep mixed and NL-only leagues as middle infield depth. He hit just .223/.283/.274 with three home runs, 31 RBI and 37 runs scored in 131 games in his lone season in Minnesota last year, and Simmons has only reached double digits in home runs three times in his 10-year career.
