Andrelton Simmons Nearing A Return
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons (ankle) is reportedly nearing a return and was scheduled for a full workout on Wednesday. Simmons’s recovery from his ankle sprain isn’t likely to be complete even when he gets back in the lineup according to manager Joe Maddon, and the 30-year-old is expected to deal with ankle soreness over the rest of the season. When Simmons returns, Luis Rengifo is likely to be the primary playing time casualty, with David Fletcher sliding over to second base and Simmons slotting in at shortstop. That Simmons will likely suffer from ankle soreness all season dents his rest of season fantasy value -- especially on the basepaths -- and his already mediocre offensive profile combined with his ankle issue makes him droppable in most leagues.
