Andrelton Simmons Set For Spring, Twins Debut Friday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons is on track to appear in his first game with his new team Friday against Atlanta. Simmons has been delayed in his arrival due to visa issues, as he'll have fewer than three weeks to ramp up for regular-season play. While he's expected to serve as Minnesota's everyday shortstop beginning April 1, his defensive value vastly outweighs his offensive contributions at this stage. The .281 xSLG that he produced in 2020 ranked him in the bottom one percentile of the league and he did not record a record barrel during the 102 balls that he put into play. Aside from the rare defense-centric season-long league, Simmons is not a fantasy asset at this stage of his career.
