Andres Gimenez Makes First Major League Start Wednesday
4 years agoNew York Mets infielder Andres Gimenez will be in the starting lineup for the first time in his career Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox, manning the shortstop spot with Amed Rosario out of the lineup. Gimenez, a longtime top prospect for New York, has appeared in five games already this season, primarily as a defensive replacement. As a 21-year-old, Gimenez tore up the Arizona Fall League to the tune of a .371 batting average and .999 OPS. He draws a matchup against Nathan Eovaldi in his first start and could have DFS appeal due to his bargain price tag. Rosario’s absence appears to be just a regular day off as he has started the year 6-for-21 at the plate with three RBI.
