3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds promoted left-hander Andrew Abbott to Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday. The second-round pick from last year went 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA, 40 strikeouts and only seven walks in 27 innings over five starts for Single-A Dayton to earn the promotion. "He knows how to pitch," a scout said. MLB Pipeline has the southpaw listed as Cincy's No. 13 prospect, and the 22-year-old could continue rising through the Reds farm system. He has an advanced idea of how to prepare and attack hitters, but Abbott also has an intriguing repertoire with plenty of deception in his delivery. If he continues to throw strikes and produce results, he could have a shot at making his major league debut as soon as 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
