Andrew Benintendi Equates Extra Weight To Health And Consistency
7 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi has arrived at JetBlue Park weighing 190 pounds, 25 pounds more than when the 2017 season ended, according to Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe. “Trying to stay a little stronger this year and getting through the season healthy. The extra weight will help,” said Benintendi. “I want more consistency, to put the work in and keep my same routine. I just want to be more consistent.” Benintendi’s performance declined toward the end of the season, as he hit .238 with two home runs and two stolen bases after Sept. 1 last season. Benintendi finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year competition, hitting 20 home runs with 90 runs batted in and 20 stolen bases. If he is able to maintain his pace the entire year, Benintendi will be even more valuable to your fantasy roster. The added weight might prevent him from making drastic improvements in stolen bases. He remains an elite talent.
