4 years agoThe Boston Red Sox are loading up their lineup Wednesday against Rays left-hander Ryan Yarbrough with right-handed bats by benching left-handed-hitting outfielders Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. The move allows Jose Peraza to start in left field and Kevin Pillar to move into the leadoff spot in the batting order. Benintendi has been in a major malaise to kickoff 2020, having gone just 2-for-29 at the dish with no hits in nine plate appearances against a southpaw. Bradley’s day off also likely has to do with the 1-for-15 slump that he has been in over the past seven days. Both men are vital cogs of the Red Sox lineup, so owners can expect to see them back among the starting nine Friday against Toronto.--Jesse Borek
