7 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi hit his first home run on Sunday and it was not even close. Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reported that the Red Sox are recommending that Benintendi should be more aggressive at the plate. “That’s what we’re talking about. It’s about being aggressive in the strike zone. If it’s a pitch you can handle and drive, go for it," said manager Alex Cora. That is what happened Sunday when Benintendi hit the ball beyond the right center field wall. Thus far in spring games, Benintendi is 7-for-14 with two homers and at least one hit in each of the five games he’s played this spring. In addition to the new approach, the 20 pounds of added muscle this offseason will help him when he does not exactly time the pitch the way he wants. Assuming the weight does not take its toll on the base baths, Benintendi is near a lock to repeat his 20-20 season.--Ellis Canady - RotoBaller
