Andrew Benintendi To Have Surgery Tuesday
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi (wrist) is tentatively scheduled to have surgery on his hand on Tuesday, according to skipper Aaron Boone. The surgery will fix the hook of the hamate bone in his right wrist and is expected to keep him sidelined for the rest of the 2022 regular season. It remains to be seen if Benintendi will be able to return if the Yanks make a long postseason run. The 28-year-old played in 33 games for New York after being acquired from the Kansas City Royals, and he had gone 29-for-114 (.254) with two home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases in 33 games in pinstripes. With Benintendi out for the foreseeable future, Aaron Hicks, Estevan Florial, Tim Locastro and Marwin Gonzalez will battle for playing time in left field in the Bronx.
