Andrew Cashner Struggles In Boston Debut
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Andrew Cashner gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night. Cashner struck out two and walked two in his first start since being traded from the Orioles. Cashner had been pitching well before the trade giving up no more than two runs and pitching at least six innings in each of his last five starts. Cashner had a 3.83 ERA coming into the game, but his SIERRA was much worse at 5.03. Cashner also doesn't have much strikeout upside. His career strikeout rate is well below average at 17.6 and this season he only has 68 strikeouts in 101 1/3 innings. He's a usable option as a streamer, but he's best left on waivers in most mixed leagues.
