4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals left-handed reliever Andrew Miller notched his first save of the year Saturday in the second leg of the club’s doubleheader against the White Sox. After Kwang Hyun Kim began the season in the closer’s role, the team has opened the job for competition, with Miller appearing to have first dibs as the Cardinals returned to play for the first time since July 29. While Miller’s ERA has sat north of 4.00 each of the past two years, his K/9 has exceeded 11.5 in each of those seasons. Not nearly as dominant as he was with Cleveland earlier in his career, owners adding Miller in season-long formats will be taking on some risk, but he appears to have the inside track at save opportunities with St. Louis for the time being.--Jesse Borek
