Angels Call Up Taylor Ward

6 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels called up third baseman Taylor Ward from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. Infielder Jose Fernandez was optioned to Salt Lake and outfielder Chris Young was moved to the 60-day disabled list in corresponding moves. Ward is the team's No. 8 prospect and was hitting a combined .349 with 14 home runs, 60 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 102 games between Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Salt Lake. The Angels are out of contention and should give Ward frequent playing time, which makes him an attractive pickup in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. He's starting at the hot corner and batting seventh in his major league debut on Tuesday against Padres starter Brett Kennedy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
