2 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels fired manager Joe Maddon on Tuesday while in the midst of a 12-game losing streak. Phil Nevin has been named as the interim manager. The Angels were 10 games over .500 two weeks ago but have fallen to 27-29 during the franchise-record-tying 12-game losing skid. They are now in danger of missing the playoffs for the eighth straight season. The Angels are now 8.5 games behind the Houston Astros, who lead the American League West division. Maddon was in his third year with the Angels after being hired in October of 2019. Nevin, who played in the big leagues for 12 seasons, was hired as the team's third base coach in the offseason.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
