6 years agoLos Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler said that the team is expecting phenom Shohei Ohtani (elbow) to return to the team as a hitter this season. While Ohtani returning as a pitcher seems unrealistic, it is possible that the team could delay any operations that are needed on his elbow and let him serve as the designated hitter for the rest of the season. While it is all speculation at this point, it is encouraging to see that the Angels believe Ohtani will be back in 2018. Pitching statistics aside, Ohtani was still a revelation at the plate. Through 114 at-bats, the 23-year-old had six home runs, 20 RBI, and a .289 average. More should come from the Angels staff throughout the next few weeks.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
