Angels Optimistic Mike Trout Will Be Ready
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels manager Joe Maddon said he's optimistic that outfielder Mike Trout (illness) will be available on Opening Day on Thursday against the Houston Astros. Trout missed his second straight Cactus League game on Tuesday with a stomach bug, but he's scheduled to take batting practice again on Wednesday. Even if the three-time American League MVP doesn't play on Opening Day, he shouldn't be out much longer beyond that date. The 30-year-old is no longer in consideration as the top overall fantasy pick, but he's still one of the best all-around hitters in the game. Trout played in only 36 games last season but still hit .333/.466/.624 with eight home runs and 18 RBI in 146 plate appearances. The nine-time All-Star is ranked No. 18 overall by RotoBaller.
