4 years agoLos Angeles Angels second baseman Franklin Barreto (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder injury. Barreto injured his shoulder while sliding in an attempt to steal second base on Sunday, and he’ll now miss a chunk of the rest of the season while recovering. The Angels called up corner infielder Matt Thaiss to replace Barreto on the roster, and manager Joe Maddon said that the team will start Thaiss at second base despite him having never played the position professionally. That should have Thaiss on the radar of fantasy managers, though his career .699 OPS is fairly uninspiring.--Sam Chinitz
