Angels, Shohei Ohtani Haven't Discussed Extension
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter/starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani, who won the American League MVP last season, said that he and the team have not discussed a contract extension. The two-way superstar is under club control through the end of the 2023 season after he and the Angels agreed to a two-year, $8.5 million deal last year to avoid arbitration. The 27-year-old had a ridiculous .965 OPS with 46 home runs as the Angels primary designated hitter, and he also posted a solid 3.18 ERA with 156 strikeouts and 44 walks in 130 1/3 innings on the mound. Ohtani is extremely valuable in real life and in fantasy both as a hitter and as a pitcher, and he enters the 2022 season as a top-15 fantasy asset that will come off the board in the first couple of rounds.
