3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman/infielder Jonathan Villar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates which the Mets lost 6-2. In the nightcap, which the Mets won 4-2, Villar went 0-for-3. Since returning from the injured list on July 4, Villar is batting just .167 (3-for-18). His three hits, however, are all home runs that have been hit over the last two days. Villar's fantasy appeal in season-long formats will likely take a hit coming out of the All-Star break when he loses regular playing time to J.D. Davis (finger) who is due to return from the IL. Villar should, however, continue to be a sneaky, cheap DFS option on days he is in the Mets lineup, given his potential to hit for power, as seen in the Mets current series against Pittsburgh.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
