Anthony DeSclafani Avoids Arbitration
7 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $860,000 deal, according to a source. He will also receive a $75,000 bonus if he makes the All-Star team. DeSclafani did not pitch at all in 2017 due to a ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his elbow, but the Reds are optimistic he can bounce back to his 2016 levels when he went 9-5 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 20 starts. Temper expectations in 2017, though, as his homer allowance and low strikeout rates could haunt him as he looks to get back on track.
