Anthony DeSclafani Is Making Progress
7 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Anthony DeSclafani is making progress as he works his way back from an oblique injury suffered in spring training. DeSclafani will throw off a mound on Wednesday at the team's spring training complex in Goodyear, Arizona. The right-hander is on the 60-day disabled list and will be first eligible for reinstatement on May 28, although he may not be ready by then. Manager Bryan Price mentioned to reporters that DeSclafani basically has to start spring training all over again. "You do everything you can to make sure the injury is 100 percent healed, but you're trying to introduce baseball activity through the course of that healing and not do too much. He will have to re-establish a workload, starting with bullpens, live batting practice and then games that will build him up to that roughly 90-100 pitch threshold," Price said. The oft-injured DeSclafani has now had three straight seasons cut short due to injury.
