Anthony McFarland Jr. Involved In Offense Early In Camp
3 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back Anthony McFarland Jr. was barely used as a rookie last season. McFarland finished his rookie campaign with 33 carries for 113 yards while adding six catches for 54 yards. The fourth-round pick out of Maryland has a shot to grab a larger share of the Pittsburgh offense in 2021. While he isn't going to challenge first-round pick Najee Harris for the lead-back role, McFarland has been seeing the field early in camp in two-running back sets, according to The Athletic's Mark Kaboly. Kaboly noted that McFarland has been lining up as the "wild card" in the offense and, at times, has been running to open space as an H-back. McFarland isn't likely to make an impact in fantasy unless an injury befalls Harris, but dynasty gamers rostering McFarland should keep him stashed nonetheless as it appears the Steelers will utilize his talents more this season.
