Anthony Rizzo Dealing With Back Soreness
2 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo was scratched from the lineup with lower back soreness ahead of his team's game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Rizzo was replaced at first base by norma second baseman D.J. LeMahieu. The veteran first baseman has had back issues flare up on him previously this season, most recently forcing him to take a four-game break spanning July 5 through July 8. Rizzo should be considered day-to-day for now, at least until the Yankees give an update on his status. The former Cub is hitting .227 with 27 homers, 64 runs, 66 RBI, and six steals in 2022.
