6 years agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is expected to play in Sunday's opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, per Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com. "It's almost like he picked up where he left off, so we'll see what he can do on Sunday," stated head coach Anthony Lynn. It remains to be seen what kind of role Gates will have early on, but his long-standing relationship with quarterback Philip Rivers lends itself to the possibility that he'll be on the field for meaningful snaps even with no preseason work to speak of. Without knowing how frequently he'll be used, Gates is probably a dart throw in most fantasy lineups. A few red-zone targets, however, could wind up paying off for those who take a chance on him, especially on the DFS bargain shelf.--Chris O'Reilly
