Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic Likely To Form Committee
3 years agoWashington Commanders running backs Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic are likely to continue working in tandem in the backfield in 2022. Gibson, a former third-round pick out of Memphis, has rushed for 1,832 yards and 18 touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons, adding 78 catches for 541 yards and three more scores. He ran for a career-high 1,037 yards and had 42 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the third player in franchise history to rush for 1,000 yards in his first two seasons. Gibson led all rookies with 11 rushing TDs in his first season in 2020. The 23-year-old is a versatile and explosive back, but his RB1 shine loses a little luster now that McKissic is back in the fold as the pass-catching option.
