Aqib Talib A Candidate For Release?
7 years agoDenver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib said he'd love to finish out his career with the Broncos, and he thinks the team is a quarterback away from being a top-five team in the NFL again. He said "there's a chance" he could return for his fifth season with the Broncos, but there is also a chance he's released. Talib has two years remaining on his five-year deal and carries a salary cap hit of $12 million for 2018 with only $1 million in dead money. Fellow cornerback Bradley Roby's salary will jump from roughly $1 million to $8.526 million next year, so the Broncos could save a lot of money by releasing Talib. Chris Harris Jr. is also making big money at cornerback, so something may have to give in order for Denver to free up money to potentially make a run at a free-agent quarterback. If Denver loses Talib, it'd be a big blow to their overall defense, as he's been a big part of their success the last few seasons.
