2 years agoIn the New York Yankees' 4-2 win on Tuesday over the New York Mets, relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman was nowhere to be found. Relievers Clarke Schmidt and Wandy Peralta combined to shut the door in the Bronx. Schmidt tossed the last three innings before loading the bases with two outs in the ninth inning, at which point Peralta came in to earn the one-out save. Chapman had a nine-game stretch from July 26 to Aug. 13 in which he didn't allow a run in 9 1/3 innings in lower-leverage spots, but he's walked four batters in two appearances since, and manager Aaron Boone isn't ready to return him to a high-leverage role just yet. With Clay Holmes and Scott Effross on the injured list, Peralta, Jonathan Loaisiga and Lou Trivino have all closed out games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
