7 years agoThe Oakland Athletics are interested in Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Mike Fiers, but serious talks between the two sides hasn't begun, according to sources. Oakland still has the prospect depth after trading for relief pitcher Jeurys Familia over the weekend. Fiers has been a pleasant surprise for the rebuilding Tigers this year. He shut down the Red Sox for 6 1/3 scoreless innings on Saturday and has a 3.49 ERA and 1.24 WHIP on the season in 19 starts. His 6.6 K/9 isn't great, but he's been a surprise streamer in deep mixed leagues in the right matchups.
