Asdrubal Cabrera Could Start At Third Base
5 years agoWashington Nationals infielder Asdrubal Cabrera has "embraced" a role as a mentor to fellow infielder Carter Kieboom. Cabrera is likely also the backup plan to start at third if Kieboom isn't ready at the beginning of the season. Certainly Cabrera would be more valuable as a primary starter than mostly coming off the bench. He is projected for about league average offense, but with a batting average around .260 and not many steals while hitting near the bottom of the order. Given that he still looks likelier to be a utility player than an everyday guy, as well as his limitations and age, Cabrera lacks value this draft season. Were he announced as a starter, he might improve to a fantasy bench bat, thanks to his multi-positional eligibility in the infield.
