Atlanta Remains High On Matt Ryan Entering 2022
3 years agoAtlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan will be entering his 15th season as the team's starting quarterback in 2022, assuming that the franchise sticks behind the signal-caller that they selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2008 NFL draft. Head coach Arthur Smith said at the NFL scouting combine: "I think Matt's got a lot of good football left in him." Ryan, who failed to reach the 4,000-yard mark through the air this past season for the first time since 2010, will be 37 years old during Week 1. The Falcons appear not to have ruled out bringing in a new quarterback through the draft, free agency, or trade, but Ryan remains under contract for the next two seasons. Once seen as a model of consistency at the QB position in season-long formats, combining Ryan's age with his lack of explosive pass-catching options may saddle him to the waiver wire in most leagues next year.
