Austin Ekeler Could Be A Strong Play In Week 2
4 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler had mixed results against the Kansas City Chiefs, who he'll face in Week 2, in 2019. Ekeler surprisingly only hauled in one reception in Week 1 but rushed for 84 yards on 19 carries. The Chargers will need to run the ball well in Week 2 to kill some clock versus the Super Bowl champs, and Ekeler should be a big part of their game plan. The running back will be competing with rookie Joshua Kelley for touches, but he has the upper hand. With the Chiefs expected to put up plenty of points, Ekeler is likely to be on the field more than Kelley due to his pass-catching ability, and that should only help his Week 2 value. He remains a fringe top-10 running back heading into Week 2, but owners would be wise to insure him with the addition of Kelley off the waiver wire.
