Austin Ekeler Doesn't Expect A Smaller Workload
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler handled a career-high in touches during the 2021 season, however, the dual-threat back doesn't expect his workload to change much as he enters his sixth season. "As far as my load, maybe it can be altered a little bit, but I don't think it will go down." Ekeler handled the most carries of his career with 206 last season while adding 70 receptions on 94 targets. With rookie Isaiah Spiller added to the mix, there is the chance we could see the rookie handle more of the load as a ball-carrier, while Ekeler sees similar usage to his 2019 season, when he handled just 132 carries and caught 92 passes. Regardless of how he will be used, the 27-year-old should be picked in the first round of fantasy drafts.
