Austin Ekeler Hauls In Nine Balls
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler put together a big performance in a Week 2 loss versus the Dallas Cowboys. Ekeler rushed nine times for 54 yards and caught all nine of his targets for 61 yards. Coming off of a Week 1 performance with zero targets, it was a positive sign to see him be heavily involved in the passing game. Known as a PPR beast for his ability to catch balls out of the backfield, managers got exactly what they expected in Week 2. Ekeler was removed for a brief period in the second half to be evaluated for a concussion and had to have his face mask changed. In Week 1, rookie Larry Rountree III appeared to be the main backup for Ekeler, but he only saw one carry for -1 yards and veteran Justin Jackson saw four carries for 21 yards. Both Jackson and Rountree would likely play a role in the offense if Ekeler were to miss time this year and Ekeler managers should consider both of them as insurance options. Entering Week 3 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, Ekeler remains a RB1 in all formats.
