4 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber (forearm) is still "a ways away from a start," according to manager Bud Black. Gomber was pulled from his June 19 after just two innings with left forearm soreness and was placed on the 10-day injured list one day later. He received an MRI, which came back clean but he needs more time before a rehab start. The good news is that he played catch earlier on Friday and will have a side session in the coming days, per beat writer Danielle Allentuck. If all goes well and he doesn't experience any setbacks then he would be cleared for a rehab start and could rejoin the team sometime late next week. The 27-year-old was on a roll before hitting the injured list, allowing just six earned runs over his previous six starts. He's got a 3.68 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 76:23 K/BB ratio across 78 1/3 innings (15 starts) on the season.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
