Austin Gomber Lacks Control In Rockies Debut
4 years agoColorado Rockies LHP Austin Gomber struggled mightily with his command in his team debut on Sunday vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. He took the loss as he allowed three runs (one earned) on one hit with seven walks and just two strikeouts over three innings. Gomber simply couldn't find the strike zone on Sunday, throwing just 37 of his 73 pitches for strikes. He registered a 19:2 K/BB ratio across 19 2/3 innings during spring training but that was in Arizona. He got a taste of what pitching in the high altitude of Coors Field feels like on Sunday. The 27-year-old southpaw should have a better go of it in his next scheduled start against the Nationals in D.C. but he's not a recommended fantasy arm at the moment.
