Austin Gomber Lasts Just One Inning In Sunday's Loss
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Austin Gomber took the loss on Sunday when he allowed four runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts in an 8-1 loss to the Padres. This was a poor start from Gomber, who lasted just one inning. He served up a pair of two-run doubles to Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim while also walking two batters in the opening frame. He did record three strikeouts but he needed 40 pitches just to get through the one inning before being replaced by Ashton Goudeau in the second. While this was definitely a step back for Gomber, he should be able to bounce back in his next start against the Marlins at home. He'll carry a 4.04 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 89:28 K/BB ratio over 91 1/3 innings (18 starts) into that one.
