3 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber earned the win on Wednesday when he allowed just one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts over five innings in a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Gomber was sharp on Wednesday, scattering just five hits with five strikeouts over his five innings of work. The only run scored against him came in the fifth inning when Jazz Chisholm singled in Jon Berti. Gomber exited the contest at 84 pitches before he could notch a quality start, but he was still able to earn the win. He's been excellent for the Rockies over his last seven starts; he's gone 3-2 with a 2.52 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 44:3 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings. Overall, he's got a 3.95 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 71:23 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings (13 starts). He gets a tough test against the Padres at home in his next turn but he's become a fantasy-relevant arm over the last month or so.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
