Austin Gomber Throws Eight Strong Innings In Win
3 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber earned the win on Monday when he allowed two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks over eight innings in a 3-2 win over the Mets. Gomber was locked in on Monday against the shorthanded Mets. He kept them off the scoreboard until the seventh inning when James McCann jacked a solo home run to put the Mets on the board. His pitch count was low so he came back out in the bottom of the ninth to attempt a complete game but pinch-hitter Brandon Drury hit another solo home run off of him so he was pulled at 103 pitches. He ended up getting the win and now allowed just three earned runs over his last three starts (19 1/3 innings). He'll look to keep it rolling when the Rockies visit the Pirates this weekend. He should be in streaming consideration for that one.
